Washington’s unemployment rate holds at 6.4 percent

The report showed employers added an estimated 2,500 new jobs in February, with the biggest gains in the professional and business services sector. The state’s total labor force of nearly 3.5 million also rose by about 10,000 people over the past month, the report said.

“That’s a positive sign,” said Paul Turek, ESD labor economist. “The economy is holding its own. People are moving into the job market and actually finding jobs.”

The biggest job losses in February were private education and health services.
