Change is in the air

As many of you may have heard, I will be stepping out of my role as editor of the Vancouver Business Journal later this month and fully into a role I have held for almost a year, editor of the quarterly urban living publication North Bank Magazine, also published by Brown Warrior, publishers of the Vancouver Business Journal. The official transition will take place Feb. 15.

It is an exciting time to be covering business and development in Vancouver and Clark County, and what we see today in downtown Vancouver alone will be unrecognizable in just five years. North Bank is an outlet for the excitement about downtown development and the folks who want to make the “main streets” of Southwest Washington – from Pacific to Skamania counties – the place where they live, work and play.

I would like to, at this time, welcome VBJ reporter Megan Patrick into the role of managing editor of the Vancouver Business Journal. You should, after Feb. 15, direct calls and emails to Megan regarding story ideas, columns, opinion pieces and so forth for the Vancouver Business Journal, Top Projects and the Book of Lists. She can be reached at 360-448-6019 and at mpatrick@vbjusa.com. A more general email is editorial@vbjusa.com, and that will go straight to the editorial offices.

Expect to see the same great coverage of local business news and issues in the VBJ and watch our focus sections – Real Estate and Development, Design and Construction, Banking and Finance, Health Care and Hospitals, Innovation and Technology and Workforce Development – for new columnists and perspectives in 2008. We are also adding new category lists in recycling, construction, real estate and more. Look for an enhanced electronic presence this year and more news and views online from our reporters and contributors.

This is an exhilarating time for Brown Warrior Publishing. In addition to the expansion and improvement of the Journal, we are super proud of North Bank, which takes the reader on a tour of downtown centers throughout Southwest Washington in each issue, and points out the very best in dining, art, coffee, shopping and earth friendly living. At a circulation of 15,000, North Bank is widely read and appreciated. As subscribers of the Vancouver Business Journal, you will receive it quarterly with your paper.

North Bank is now solely supported by advertising, and subscriptions are free, so if you are not already a Journal subscriber, but would like to receive North Bank, email me  and we will set you up with a subscription. Please contact me with all story ideas, networking possibilities and so forth at jswanson@vbjusa.com or 360-448-6009.

Thanks for all your support!
