Two Vancouver women launch online magazine

Vancouver residents Elizabeth Holmes and Kate Dyer-Seeley are preparing to launch an online perspectives magazine called Broadsheet360. The magazine will offer three unique perspectives on the same topic each month and feature both local and international writers.

Holmes, chief strategy officer at the magazine, previously worked in regional land development and public affairs. She has also helped to produce the local storytelling series “Anecdotal Evidence,” supporting Southwest Washington’s arts scene

“Our goal at Broadsheet360 is to foster conversations,” she said. “In today’s environment of quick sound bites and messaging with 140 characters or less, we know there’s a real desire for people to connect online and at Broadsheet360 we ask our writers and readers to go deeper.”

Upcoming issues will feature topics including: Life transitions, heartbreak, burlesque and roller derby. Broadsheet360 contributors will write about a variety of issues and reader input will be used in a wrap-up perspective at the end of each month, the magazine said.

Holmes and Dyer-Seeley said they will not ask their readers to pay a subscription fee. Rather, they plan to monetize their website with advertising and affiliate programs.

“We realized out of the gate that there’s a niche to fill in online lifestyle publishing,” said Holmes. “In our longer term plan we intended to publish collected essays from the magazine and our contributor’s work.”

Dyer-Seeley, the magazine’s chief innovation officer added, “Not only is this an exciting time to launch a magazine since the landscape of online publishing is rapidly changing, but Vancouver is such an amazing place to kick off this endeavor. We have a burgeoning and supportive arts community and some fantastic local talent.”

Broadsheet360, which officially launches early next month, can be found online at www.broadsheet360.com.
