Port-of-Camas-WashougalThe Port of Camas-Washougal today announced plans to acquire a parcel of waterfront property along the Columbia River from Vancouver-based real estate developer Killian Pacific.

The commercial property purchase covers approximately half of the 26.5-acre Hambleton Lumber site, and will allow the port to create a public trail along the waterfront.

David Ripp, Port of Camas-Washougal’s executive director, said the purchase also “enables the port to directly connect our existing land to the east and provide a way for the community to enjoy amenities along the length of the port-owned waterfront.”

Killan Pacific President Lance Killan said his company will retain ownership of the remaining portion of the Hambleton Lumber site, and intends to continue to collaborate with the port on the eventual development of the area.

“We look forward to finding the right balance between market and community needs and contributing to enhancing the community through the development of this property,” he said.

The closing date of the sale is effective Nov. 16, 2012.
