Governor Inslee talks CRC with local business leaders

Governor Jay Inslee

Governor Jay InsleeGovernor Jay Inslee met with a group of local business leaders this afternoon to listen to concerns and to discuss the future of the Columbia River Crossing project.

Inslee told the room of approx. 25 attendees that he is “still committed to finding a solution” to the region’s transportation needs and he thanked the business community for its support.

As for the CRC as it currently stands, Inslee said the project fell victim to a “failure of leadership” and an “ideology of no” after the state Senate refused to bring a transportation package to vote in the 2013 legislative session.

“The CRC project was not the reason for the failure of transportation this session,” he said.

Among those in attendance were John Rudi, CEO of Thompson Metal Fab; Terry Aarnio, Oregon Iron Works chairman; Scott Keeney, president of nLight Photonics; Todd Coleman, executive director for the Port of Vancouver; and Steve Oliva of Robertson and Olson.
