“Tools like CERB help Washington businesses succeed, supporting jobs and increasing our state’s competitiveness,” said Brian Bonlender, director of the Washington State Department of Commerce. “CERB’s dedication to helping communities around Washington is vital to our state’s economy.”
The Port of Camas-Washougal will match CERB’s investment with $1,350,000 in local funds to complete the distribution center, which will be the first new building in the port’s new Steigerwald Commerce Center. Foods in Season, an industry leader in wild-foraged foods from the Pacific Northwest sold to high-end restaurants around the world, will invest $500,000.
“I think [CERB] is a great program and it will definitely help us meet our expansion needs,” said Jerad Anderson, director of operations at Foods in Season.
“The port, especially ([Port Executive Director] Dave Ripp, has been really helpful in meeting our needs,” he added. “If he wasn’t so flexible and business friendly we would probably have to be looking somewhere else for a facility because processing facilities require some special installations that the port will build into the building ahead of time for us, so that’s a huge benefit.”
Foods in Season expects to create at least ten new permanent jobs as a result of the project.
