Diane Rivera out as Battle Ground Chamber chief

Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce announced this morning the elimination of the position of Executive Director Diane Rivera, effective today. BGCC cited a "sluggish economy" for the decision. Rivera had served as the organization's executive director for three years.

"Not knowing the situation, it's a little concerning," said Pat Mobley, director of investor relations at the Columbia River Economic Development Corp. "The more viable economic organizations in the county, the better."

Julie Bocanegra, chairwoman of the BGCC Board of Directors, will take over Rivera's duties "until the Board can make necessary financial adjustments to sustain a full-time executive staff," according to a statement released today.

Bocanegra did not return a call for comment.

Along with chamber groups in Woodland and La Center, BGCC represents the less-densely populated but fast-growing North County area.
