CREDC narrowing list of executive director candidates

This week, the Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC) is paring down their list of candidates for the role of executive director – a position that has been vacant since Bart Phillips left the organization in late May.

Diane Dempcy, manager of Investor Relations for the CREDC, said interviews for the top job began late last month and that the goal is to have the list of candidates down to two by next month – assumingly, before the CREDC Third Quarter Luncheon on September 8, when the Economic Development Plan for Clark County is formally introduced.

In the meantime, Dempcy said the CREDC is in the process of meeting with various jurisdictions, business associations and area ports to discuss their role in the implementation of the county-wide economic development plan.

“We’ve met with a couple of jurisdictions so far and plan to do the bulk of those in August,” explained Dempcy, adding, “The reception we’ve been getting has been positive.”

However, before a structured roll out of the development plan actually begins, Dempcy said the CREDC hopes to have its executive director in place.

“We’re going to start talking about how to implement the plan with the knowledge that we really need the new president on board to make any solid plans,” she said.
