Burgerville Down Town VancouverBurgerville has announced plans to close one of its oldest Vancouver restaurant locations this fall.

On Friday, the company revealed the sale of its property at 307 East Mill Plain Boulevard to Prestige Development, which owns the rest of the block adjacent to the restaurant located there.

According to the Vancouver-based restaurant chain, a $16 million development project will take the eatery's place. Burgerville said the new development will feature more than 100 apartments and 7,000 square feet of retail space.

“This restaurant has been an iconic spot for both Burgerville and the Vancouver community and we know many of our guests have strong memories associated with this location, as do we,” said Burgerville CEO Jeff Harvey in a prepared statement. “However, as this restaurant closes, in its place will be a new mixed-use space we are confident will help with the revitalization of downtown Vancouver.”

Burgerville said all employees at its East Mill Plain restaurant are being offered employment opportunities at other locations.

Built in 1962, the East Mill Plain location is the company's second oldest restaurant.
