BPA expands Van Mall staffing center

The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) plans to move approximately 100 employees into a newly-leased building near its Van Mall staffing center (7500 NE 41st Street).

According to representatives at Eric Fuller & Associates Inc., the utility has leased 25,469 square feet of office space at The 4400 Building, located at 4400 NE 77th Avenue. A move-in date is set for August 1.

Facilities Planner Doug Siu, a BPA contractor, said the move will allow the utility to free up much-needed office space at the BPA Ross Complex, the city’s main substation near I-5 and Highway 99.

“We are out of space in the facilities that we have on BPA property,” he said. “BPA grows and contracts as our customers grow and contract. For the past ten years or so we’ve been growing; we’ve been growing in the services that we offer and that typically means the number of people that we employ is also going to grow.

“We’re trying to allocate staff so that if their job requires them to be [at the Ross Complex] they can be there,” Siu added. “That means if you don’t need to be there, it’s better for you to move over to lease space.”

Most of the staff members that will be relocating from the Ross Complex to Van Mall are project engineers, Siu said.
