BIA names incoming executive director

Avaly Mobbs will replace Dave Roewe as executive director of the Building Industry Association of Clark County.

The BIA's board of directors selected Mobbs for the position in a meeting Jan. 13, Roewe said. He is leaving the organization Jan. 31 for a similar position in Las Cruces, N.M.

Mobbs, 32, is currently marketing manager for the Ridgefield-based Clark County Event Center, overseeing the Clark County Fair and other events at the center.

For nearly five years Mobbs was what Roewe called his "right hand" as special events director of the BIA, coordinating the annual Parade of Homes, the Clark County Remodeled Homes Tour and monthly member meetings. During that time she was instrumental in increasing Parade of Homes attendance by at least 147 percent and boosting its net profit by 130 percent. Mobbs also created the parade's companion event, the Playhouse Parade, raising at least $22,000 the Camas, Washougal and Vancouver School Foundations.

"She is a brilliant young woman that will take this organization to the next level," Roewe said. "I have all the confidence in her."

Mobbs also worked as marketing director of Westfield Shoppingtown Vancouver and was one of the VBJ's Accomplished and Under 40 honorees in 2006. She holds Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Washington State University Vancouver and has volunteered with the YW Housing board of directors.
