“We chose Vancouver because of the favorable taxes and family-oriented neighborhood schools,” said Eric Preisz, CEO of GarageGames in a press release. “It’s an exciting time to move to Vancouver and we only expect more technology growth and talent to flock to a very affordable downtown.”

GarageGames was founded in Eugene in 2000 and purchased by IAC Inc. in 2008. In 2009, the company was relocated to Las Vegas, and in 2010 was sold to Graham Software Development.

“When we told the team we were moving the company from Vegas to Vancouver, there was a lot of excitement,” said Preisz. “Many employees expressed the chance to relocate as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

GarageGames is the latest technology company to move to the recently designated Vancouver-Camas Applied Digital Technology Accelerator Innovation Partnership Zone (IPZ). IPZ designation is awarded by the state to stimulate the growth of industry clusters and to build regional economies. The Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC) is involved with those efforts.

“GarageGames is an exciting addition to our community and a perfect fit for the IPZ corridor,” said Mike Bomar, president of the CREDC. “We are especially encouraged that they want to engage with our education partners as well as with IPZ efforts, and we anticipate that their presence here will help continue the interest and momentum building in the technology sector.”
