Vancouver startup Healers Petcare steps up growth

Vancouver entrepreneur Eric LaBrant

BS2“I’m self-funded right now,” she explained. “We’re obviously looking for investors.”

One source of support Entler has found beneficial is the Columbia River Economic Development Council and their entrepreneurship development program.

“I presented at their PubTalk and won the event as being one of the more promising companies,” she said. “A lot of my contractors have come out of that event. It’s a great business network for an entrepreneur starting a company.”

This sense of community is part of the reason why Entler is committed to keeping her company here in Vancouver.

“[Vancouver] has a small-town feel to it and is so supportive in the networking,” she said. “I love Vancouver. I want to keep my business here and keep growing in this area as much as we can.”

With leased space on the horizon and another product launch planned for this year, Entler also has her eye on expansion plans further down the road. These could someday include products for horses, llamas and other animals prone to foot or hoof injury.

“Hopefully we’ll get into horses next year,” Entler said. “The veterinarians were the ones who asked me to come up with the same type of thing for a horse.”

For now, though, Entler wants to continue her focus on dogs, both through her growing product line and within her growing company culture.

“I hope we can build a company that everyone loves,” she remarked. “I want you to bring your dog to work. Everyone loves dogs.”

“[Vancouver] has a small-town feel to it and is so supportive in the networking.”
