The Modern Orthodontist: The art of a smile

Dr. Gretchen Schnepper and staff

TheModernOrthodontist“We do a lot of e-mail communication with our patients and their referring doctors. That way we are green,” she said. “We also do text message reminders for our patients for rubber band wear and appointment reminders.”

Outside of the office, The Modern Orthodontist takes a very hands-on approach to community involvement. For example, Schnepper and her staff of six work with the Vancouver School District to organize art shows.

Another way the practice gives back is through a donation program known as Partners in Education. Aimed at offsetting school budget cuts, Schnepper donates $100 to the school of every new Modern Orthodontist patient. Overall, she estimates about $15,000 in donations have been given to local schools through the practice.

“We also participate in a program called Smiles Change Lives where I donate a certain amount of cases every year,” Schnepper added. “Being able to treat patients at pro bono who are underserved and under privileged and who cannot afford orthodontic treatment is a great thing.”

Schnepper said she chose her Hazel Dell location simply because there weren’t any other private practice orthodontist offices in the area. And with continued growth in mind, she hopes to increase the number of patient chairs in the office from five to seven.

“We are growing,” she said. “We pay real close attention to our prices and try to make them as affordable as possible.”
