ZGF Architects to design new facility for CID Bio-Science

CID Bio-Science Inc., a Camas-based designer and manufacturer of portable precision instruments for agricultural and environmental research, has selected ZGF Architects LLP to design its new headquarters and operations facility.

The project entails a $1 million renovation of the former American Legion Hall in camas to create 10,000 square feet of office space for the company and 2,500 square feet of leasable space within the building. The company said the design will “celebrate a Northwest style,” while incorporating CID’s high-tech business focus.

“I came across the American Legion Hall somewhat accidentally, though had seen it in passing many times, and it reminded me of Timberline Lodge,” said Leonard Felix, CID’s president. “When we walked inside and saw the big timber beams, I was amazed and thrilled and immediately had visions of this becoming a showcase building. We did the math and, with SBA financing and a full renovation, saw that we could acquire the building and actually reduce our monthly expenses.”

Planning and design will begin immediately with move-in scheduled for the end of 2012.
