WSU Online gets high ranking from U.S. News & World Report

Washington State University’s online degree program recently received top marks in the 2012 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The publication ranks online bachelor’s degree programs in three categories: student services and technology; faculty credentials and training; and teaching practices and student engagement. WSU Online ranked sixth, 33rd and 36th respectively in those categories.

“We appreciate the recognition, especially our sixth-place ranking in the area of student services and technology,” said David Cillay, executive director of the Center for Distance and Professional Education, which includes WSU Online. “We create and use top-notch technology, but the ranking shows we haven’t forgotten the fundamentals of individual and personal attention for each student. It’s a winning combination.”

The recognition comes less than three weeks after the SuperScholar website named WSU Online among the nation’s top five online degree programs. That ranking cited WSU’s “outstanding academic reputation” and called WSU Online “one of the premier online degree programs in the country.”
