Commissioner Marc Boldt, chair of the Board of County Commissioners, is scheduled to present the 2012 State of the County address on Thursday, February 2.
The event will be open to the public at no charge from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Washburn Performing Arts Center at Washougal High School, 1201 39th Street, in Washougal.
Boldt will speak about community needs and public issues after the commissioners recognize volunteers for extraordinary efforts in 2011.
“I believe the real core of service is helping your neighbor in need,” he said.
Boldt and his fellow commissioners urge those attending to bring non-perishable food for local food banks, continuing a practice in place for the last few years. The Washougal Salvation Army will have representatives on hand to collect donations.
