Umpqua pays back taxpayer money

Umpqua Holdings Corporation, parent company of Umpqua Bank, announced on Feb. 17 that it had paid back funds released to the financial institution from the U.S. Treasury under the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

Umpqua paid a total of $214.2 million to the U.S. Treasury, consisting of $214,181,000 in principal and $59,500 in accrued and unpaid dividends, according to a statement released by the financial institution last week.

Umpqua Bank has 162 locations between San Francisco and Seattle, including five branches in Clark County.

RSV begins construction on Portland "Beaches"

Beaches Restaurant, a longtime Southwest Washington eatery and bar, will be opening a new location at Portland International Airport, with Vancouver-based RSV Building Solutions selected to do remodeling work.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work for [Beaches owner] Mark Mathias and the strong and respected Beaches brand," said RSV president Ron Frederiksen. "For years, Mark and I have worked together on community projects and now it's fun to be able to do a project together."

Other members of the design-build team include Architects Associative, Bargreen-Ellingson, DelStar Electric and Jason Prouty of Garage 31 Custom Painting. Construction is slated to begin this month and is anticipated to be completed in just eight weeks.
