iQ honored for marketing, business development

iQ Credit Union earned two Merit Awards from the Credit Union National Association Diamond Awards program, which recognizes outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry.

iQ took the Outdoor Advertising category and the Complete Campaign category. 

Battle Ground qualifies for low interest loan for wastewater treatment

The U.S. Department of Agriculture chose the city of Battle Ground to receive funding, by means of a $7 million low-interest loan through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and USDA to improve the city's wastewater treatment system.

The city council has been working on this funding tool to decommission the city's sewer lagoon and will consider acceptance of the loan at the July 20 council meeting.

The Lagoon Replacement Project includes several components required for decommissioning of the lagoon. Work will include solids dredging, a pump station upgrade, complete removal of the lagoon, flow equalization, flow measurement facilities and site improvements to meet stormwater and erosion requirements.

WSUV students launch Boys & Girls Club website

Washington State University Vancouver students from the Digital Technology and Culture Program launched a new website for the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Washington June 16. The site was produced during the Senior Seminar in spring 2009 and it was designed to provide the public with general information about the organization and to develop interest and support from the community.

The site is www.mybgc.org. The DTC program's senior seminar enhances students' preparation for professional jobs or graduate school by providing a practical learning environment.

New Edge Networks celebrates with donation to Oregon Food Bank

Vancouver-based New Edge Networks, the business communications unit of EarthLink Inc., will have celebrated its 10th anniversary June 24 with a more than $10,000 donation to the Oregon Food Bank.

New Edge employees raised $10,656.75 and 501 pounds of food during a "Battle of the Sexes" fundraising drive won by the women's team through raffles, bake sale, auction, cash donations and other events.
