GVCC launches holiday giving campaign

For the second year, the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce celebrated its "Chamber Cares" holiday giving campaign with a Charitable Giving Breakfast at The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver this Friday, Dec. 4.

GVCC includes more than 50 nonprofit members that provide a range of services and meet an array of needs in this community. Chamber president and CEO Kim Capeloto said he hoped to raise $20,000 for the organizations this year.

"While we have not exceeded that goal yet, we are confident that with community support, we can make a difference for those that really need assistance at this time of the year," Capeloto said.

Local company helps Dress for Success

Agents, employees and Portland-Vancouver metro residents donated 1,700 pieces of clothing during Hasson Company Realtors' 9th Annual Send-in-One-Suit Week benefiting Dress for Success, a nonprofit helping low-income women prepare to enter the workforce.

"The Hasson Company has provided tremendous support and dedication to our cause," said Barb Attridge, executive director and co-founder of Dress for Success Oregon. "We look to the public to contribute items to this event so that these women are able to find the attire and self confidence needed to re-enter the workforce."

Hasson, with locations in Portland and downtown Vancouver, opens its doors once a year to serve as a public drop center for new and gently-used suits, skirts and slacks.

"We remain committed to supporting local events and programs that provide a direct benefit to our community," said Mike Hasson, president and owner of Hasson Company Realtors.
