Public hearing to consider fee waiver for new developments

The Clark County Board of Commissioners will hear testimony regarding a proposal to waive application and services fees in limited situations for new developments at a hearing scheduled for Tuesday October 12 at 10:00 a.m. 

Projects in the categories of mixed use, commercial, industrial, business park and office campus development would have application and services fees waived if the proposal is approved.

The waiver would apply to new, nonresidential development or nonresidential tenant improvements in the following focused public investment areas:  Highway 99, east to NE 25th Avenue between NE 59th and NE 139th streets; Salmon Creek Research Park and WSU Industrial Park, from NE 134th to NE 179th streets; Discovery Corridor, I-5/Fairgrounds area;  Barberton/St. Johns, east of St. Johns Road from NE Minnehaha to NE 119th streets; Northeast 117th Avenue bounded by NE 76th Street, NE 119th Street, NE 94th Avenue and 139th Avenue.

New development and tenant improvements along the county rail right-of-way would also qualify for the waivers according to the proposal. Projects receiving the fee waivers would need to begin construction by June 30, 2012. The hearing is scheduled for the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.
