Clark Public Utilities awarded $400K

Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire awarded Clark Public Utilities more than $400,000 to be used for an energy efficiency project at semiconductor manufacturer WaferTech.

The funding will be used for the largest energy efficiency project in Clark County.

Once the project is completed, WaferTech will conserve 5,129,461 kilowatts per year – or enough power for 3,500 homes.

"This is a double win for Clark County and the best use of [federal stimulus] dollars," said Bart Phillips president of the Columbia River Economic Development Council.

This is the third Clark County application approved for federal stimulus funding. Renewable Energy Composite Solutions received a $1 million grant and NCS Power, both in Vancouver, received a low-interest loan through the program last fall.
