Beaches at PDX completed

On May 28, Vancouver-based RSV Building Solutions completed Beaches Restaurant at Portland International Airport.

"We selected the RSV team because of their commitment to quality, the personal interest they take in the success of the project, and their community involvement," said Beaches Owner Mark Mathias.

"I could not be more pleased with the final outcome of this project," said Ron Frederiksen, president of RSV Building Solutions.

In addition to Beaches, RSV has worked for The Holland (owners of Burgerville), Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill, and Le Hana Japanese Grill.

The new Beaches took over a 6,800-square-foot space previously occupied by the Rose City Café, with seating for 174.

Other members of the design-build team include Architects Associative, Bargreen- Ellingson, DelStar Electric and Jason Prouty of Garage 31 Custom Painting.

Vancouver's water supply receives excellence award

The city of Vancouver and environmental planning firm Kennedy/Jenks Consultants have been recognized with the 2010 Pacific Northwest section of the American Water Works Association's Excellence in Engineering Award for its project to improve the city's existing Ellsworth Water Station.

The ceremony was held in Tacoma on May 14.

The city of Vancouver's water distribution system provides drinking water to nearly 200,000 people and constitutes the fourth largest water utility in the Washington state. Total construction cost for the Ellsworth Water project was $3.45 million.

"This project represents the best of what we do, working together with the community, to better serve the community," said Brian Carlson, director of Vancouver's Dept. of Public Works.
