Seton High School leases space for September opening

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic High School leased 14,000 square feet in Sunshine Plaza, 811 N.E. 112th Ave. in Vancouver, in anticipation of its Sept. 8 opening. Classroom construction is underway and will have a capacity of 215 students.

 

The leased space will serve as the school's initial location until completion of construction at the permanent school site in Ridgefield.

Olivas named Philanthropists of the Year

Jan and Steve Oliva were named the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington's 2009 Philanthropists of the Year. They will be honored at a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on May 12 at the Hilton Vancouver.

The Olivas, who have lived in Vancouver since 1963, support a broad range of community organizations, including Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, Clark College, the Community Foundation, the Confluence Project, Fort Vancouver Regional Library, Humane Society for Southwest Washington, Southwest Washington Medial Center, Vancouver's Downtown Association, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver School District Foundation and the YWCA Clark County.
Steve Oliva has served on the West Coast Bancorp Board since 2003.

Skills Center students win top architecture spots

Designs drawn by three students from the Clark County Skills Center Pre-Engineering and Design Technology program took the top three spots in the advanced division of the Architectural Drawing Competition, sponsored by the American Institute of Architects.

Union High School senior Alex Stepanyuk won the Grand Prize, Skyview High School senior Julian Blakely won Best Presentation and Skyview senior Jesse Sutton won Best Design.

CRC conducts more analysis of weekend traffic

The Columbia River Crossing project is seeking input from drivers who crossed the Columbia River on interstates 5 and 205 during daylight hours on April 18 in the form of a nine-question mailed survey.
