Legacy Salmon Creek to offer two EV charging stations

Legacy Health is installing Blink® electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at each of its hospital campuses during December. Two stations at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center will be available starting December 12.

All Blink charging stations will be available for public use.

“At Legacy Health, we are committed to sustainability,” said George J. Brown, M.D., president and CEO of Legacy Health, in a press release. “This effort to establish charging stations, two years in the planning, focuses on a future where we are not wholly dependent on fossil fuels.”

Installation of the charging stations is being completed in partnership with Arizona-based ECOtality Inc., which owns and operates the Blink product line of charging stations.

“This partnership will allow EV owners throughout the Portland metro area and Southwest Washington to have convenient and accessible charging stations wherever they live,” said Rich Feldman, ECOtality area manager for the Pacific Northwest.

Charging stations will be open 24/7, 365 days a year. During December, the stations will operate at no charge. Beginning in 2012, cost will likely be about $1 per hour.
