Chuck’s Produce broke ground on a $10 million second Vancouver location earlier this week.
The family-owned and operated supermarket opened its first location on Mill Plain Blvd. two years ago. The new, 44,900-square-foot store will be situated in the Salmon Creek area, at 2302 NE 117th St.
Chuck’s Produce plans to hire 115 to 130 full- and part-time employees when the new location opens mid-summer 2013.
The supermarket is partnering with local contracting and consulting teams for the project, including AKS Engineering and Forestry, Columbia West Geotechnical and Rotschy Inc.
The Salmon Creek store will offer some low-impact, high-efficiency energy features not available in the Mill Plain store, including electric car charging stations, rain gardens, energy-saving lighting, and pervious pavement technology.
