Greater Clark Parks District decreasing construction and maintenance

Roughly $5.6 million in property taxes that was supposed to pay for construction will now be saved to prevent a shortfall in maintenance of already existing
parks, according to the Greater Clark
Parks District.

“We have been dealt a lousy hand, one that requires the county to make changes that no one likes or wants,” said Peter Capell, Clark County Public Works director.

The loss in income requires the district to decrease fertilizing, mowing, trimming and other routine work in the district’s parks. By choosing this ‘middle-of-the-road’ approach, the county expects to be able to remain financially sound through 2014.
