Free Clinic of SW WA receives two $5,000 grants

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington received a $5,000 grant from Wells Fargo this month to help cover costs associated with the nonprofit’s Diabetes Care Program.

The program aims to reduce the avoidance and/or delay of medical care due to cost in low-income individuals with diabetes.

“It’s rewarding to see a patient’s face light up when they see results of positive changes in their diabetic journey,” said Kimberly Wolfe, medical clinics and project access supervisor. “They work hard to learn new habits that are difficult to accept sometimes. Our volunteer diabetes educators become a partner and cheerleader for the patient and we all celebrate successes with them.”

Last month, the Free Clinic received another $5,000 grant – this one from Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center to help cover costs associated with radiology services (X-rays and ultrasounds).

X-rays and ultrasounds are read by community radiologists who partner with the clinic in providing patient care.

The Free Clinic is funded by the local community and all donations stay in Southwest Washington.
