Fred Meyer customers and employees donated $5,259.11 to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s cancer services as part of a recent giving campaign.

The money was raised from November 3 to December 6, 2011, through change dropped into check-stand coin boxes at all seven Fred Meyer stores throughout Clark County. Fred Meyer employees in Southwest Washington also donated to the Fred Meyer Fund, the company’s corporate foundation.

Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation accepted the donation from Fred Meyer this month.

“We thank Fred Meyer customers and employees here in Clark County for helping us to expand the reach of our services to those most in need,” said Diane Buelt, director of clinical and support services at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s cancer services programs serve more than 3,600 people annually. Donated funds will be used to offer free mammograms to those who otherwise could not afford them and to provide support groups for breast cancer patients and their families.
