First Independent aids nonprofits through social media training

First Independent Bank recently increased the number of nonprofit organizations it supports through its annual matching funds program, Ready2Give. The bank has also included a formal social media training program for local nonprofits.

This month, seven featured nonprofits began their participation in a 12-week social media training program the bank developed in partnership with WSU Vancouver’s Digital Media & Culture department. First Independent has also pledged a dollar for dollar matching grant to the nonprofits, up to $1,500 each or $10,500 total, for new dollars raised through social media channels. Nonprofits were selected based on the bank’s four giving areas as well as its geographic footprint.

The seven nonprofit partners First Independent selected for 2012 include: Evergreen Habitat For Humanity, Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, March of Dimes, The Right Brain Initiative, Share, The Children’s Center and Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools.

Nonprofit organizations that were not selected to receive funds in 2012 were also invited to participate in the social media training at WSU Vancouver.
