Contractor releases new details on ESD’s new health & science school

The Oregon/Southwest Washington office of Skanska USA, general contractor for Evergreen School District’s new health and science high school, recently released new details about the project.

Skanska broke ground on Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School (He-La High) in October 2011 and plans to have the school finished in time for the start of the 2013 school year. The 69,000-square-foot building is three stories and has approximately 26 classrooms.

The building centerpieces are learning labs structured to accommodate the school’s various programs including biomedical engineering, anatomy, nursing, research, chemistry, advanced biology, biotechnology, microbiology and pharmacy.

Skanska said the project will meet standards for the Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol, which is similar to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

More than 60 local subcontractors are involved in the project, including JRT Mechanical, Harlen’s Drywall Company, O’Neill Electric, Clem Fleck Masonry, Pioneer Sheet Metal, Culver Glass, and Inland Company.
