Clark County green programs awarded

Two Clark County programs have won statewide Recycler of the Year honors

The Washington State Recycling Association recently named the Recycled Arts Festival, held annually in Esther Short Park, Most Innovative Recycler. The event attracts more than 15,000 people and showcases the creativity of artists who turn junk into art.

Washington Green Schools was named Recycler of the Year for School Programs. The program stimulates resource conservation and waste reduction in schools.

37 schools participate in Clark County alone, the highest total among all Washington counties.

”We are honored to receive awards that recognize the success of these dynamic programs in our community,” said Kevin Gray, Clark County Environmental Services director. “These awards prove that learning about environmental stewardship can be both serious study and just plain fun.”
