Earlier this month, Clark County Commissioners approved the purchase of roughly 120 acres north of Orchards for $1.5 million. The property in question includes the 74-acre Leichner Landfill, which is now closed.
The county said the sale will not close for at least another year as final details with the Washington Department of Ecology are being worked out.
Clark County expects to kick off a master planning process for the area in the next months. During that time, it will be possible for the public to participate and comment on drafting a blueprint for future use of the property.
