Citizen advisors wanted to help guide local improvements for Columbia River Crossing

Columbia River Crossing is forming a bi-state citizen advisory committee to provide input on corridor and local improvements and serve as a liaison to local neighborhoods.

With the endorsement of the Final Environmental Impact Statement earlier this month by federal, state and local agencies, CRC is nearing completion of the preliminary planning and environmental review phase. This bi-state committee will support the project as it advances to refining designs and planning for construction of transit, bridge and local elements.

Community members and business owners are invited to apply for the role of citizen advisor for the project to improve Interstate 5 between Washington and Oregon. Committee members will have an opportunity to affect local, on-the-ground improvements; serve as a conduit to neighborhoods and local interest groups; and participate in community outreach efforts.

The bi-state committee will include about 30 members, including 12 to 15 people from each state who reflect diverse interests throughout the project area. Members will serve for one or two year terms. The full committee will meet one or two times a year. Vancouver and Portland subcommittees, both composed of bi-state committee members, will each meet 10 to 12 times per year.

Completed applications for committee membership are due Oct. 17 to feedback@columbiarivercrossing.com. Additional information and applications are available online at www.columbiarivercrossing.com.
