LaBar has served as chief performance officer for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council since 2004. She will take over the position of president and CEO from Sean Robbins, whom Governor John Kitzhaber selected to lead Business Oregon, Oregon’s state agency for business and economic development.
“Generating results in economic development takes clear vision and strong leadership – Janet has both,” said Greg Ness, Greater Portland Inc board chair. “Janet’s proven experience in partnership building and business recruitment will allow GPI to continue creating opportunities for high-quality economic growth in the region.”
LaBar will start in her new position on July 1.

DIscoverOrg hires new manager
DiscoverOrg, a Vancouver-based provider of technology sales and marketing intelligence tools, has named former Salesforce.com analyst Jonathan Chin as its new manager of salesforce support and professional services.
In his new position, Chin will manage DiscoverOrg’s Salesforce application. On the back end, he will work with developers to ensure that the application provides customers with the greatest usability. He will also work directly with customers to provide sales help support.
“As our customer base expands, we want to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding sales help and support,” said Michelle Milner, director of operations and talent for DiscoverOrg. “Bringing on Jonathan will help us maintain the quality and performance our customers rely on.”
Chin previously served as a senior frontline technical support analyst at Salesforce.com.
