Fort Vancouver National Trust hires event facilities manager

The Fort Vancouver National Trust has named Julie Kummer event facilities manager.

Kummer will oversee and market all Trust event rentals and manage daily rental operations at the Artillery Barracks, the Red Cross Building and the O.O. Howard House.

Kummer has experience at the historic site, once serving as general manager of the Club at the Historic Reserve in the Grant House.

“Julie’s extensive experience in marketing and planning catered events will be invaluable to the Trust as we move forward in bringing increased corporate and community events to the Fort Vancouver National Site,” said Elson Strahan, Trust president and CEO.

“The Trust offers beautiful, varied spaces for weddings, milestone parties and corporate retreats,” Kummer said. “I look forward to working with the community to plan picture-perfect events in this historic, park like setting.”

Byron Roselli of Eric Fuller & Associates Inc. has earned the designation of Certified Green Broker – a certification granted within the commercial real estate industry to commercial brokers and affiliated professionals who have completed the Certified Green Broker course.

Washington State-based Commercial Brokers Association (CBA), in partnership with the Cascadia Green Building Council, developed the certification program to enable commercial brokers to identify sustainability issues related to real estate practices.

According to the CBA, Certified Green Brokers provide appropriate counsel on the benefits of buying, building, leasing and managing green properties.

Affordable Community Environments (ACE), a nonprofit organization that develops sustainable and affordable communities in Southwest Washington, along with Bryan Cole, vice president of landscape architecture at Mackay & Spositio, has presented the Valeria Award to Kris Krohn – a former ACE Board member and current program manager for the ARC of Southwest Washington.

Cole said the Valeria Award is “presented to ACE supporters who embody the generous spirit of founding board member Valeria Ogden, who provided incredible vision, compassion and leadership.”

Krohn served on the ACE Board of Directors from December 1999 through the end of 2008.

The Vancouver USA Regional Tourism Office has hired Ashley Shimer as their Convention Sales Manager. In addition, the organization has promoted Debbie Picard and Kelsey Chappelle to senior convention sales managers.

Shimer, who has been with the organization for the past year in a support capacity, will now be responsible for selling both the sports and government markets.

“We are extremely excited to have Ashley join the convention sales team,” said Rosemary Cooke, director of sales for the office. “Her position will allow us to truly focus on the sports events market, in which we feel Vancouver USA has so much to offer.”

Regarding the promotions of Picard and Chappelle, Cooke said the new titles are evidence of their range of experience and dedication to the tourism office, as well as their success in selling Vancouver as a destination.
