Vancouver’s Tammie Howard has achieved the SPHR credential from the Human Resource Certification Institute. The SPHR is specific to HR professionals who design and plan policy, have knowledge in all HR disciplines and influence overall business plans.

Howard has been involved in business development and strategic planning for more than 20 years, most recently at the Woodland Chamber of Commerce. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University, is a program coordinator with Washington State University Extension and a licensed foster parent.

Howard is a member of Columbia-Willamette Compensation Group, Washington State 4-H Association and Southwest Washington Human Resource Management Association.

KGO Stone, a natural stone supply company, recently announced the addition of Thomas Renner Jr. to its Pacific Northwest operations.

Renner comes to KGO Stone having worked for the cities of Vancouver and Battle Ground over the course of the past 16 years, the majority of which he served as a construction inspector for private development and capital/public projects.

KGO Stone said Renner’s involvement in hundreds of private and public projects throughout the region, as well as his wealth of knowledge of regulatory practices and overall construction related acumen, strengthen the company’s core foundation.

International engineering firm Glumac recently celebrated Rem Wilson’s 25 years of employment. Wilson serves Clark County and focuses on LEED and other environmentally sustainable building projects.

Wilson, who has experience in designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for most building types, received a Tiffany’s watch in recognition of his service.

ELAINE GUNTER & ELLEN QUALE

Caley and Associates PC, a certified public accounting firm in Vancouver, recently announced the additions of Elaine Gunter and Ellen Quale.

Gunter has more than 30 years of public and private accounting experience in a variety of industries. Quale’s background includes more than 35 years of experience in taxation, including four years working at the Internal Revenue Service where she audited individual and small business tax returns.

Quale has been licensed as a Certified Public Accountant since 1985 and is a member of the Oregon Society of CPAs.

BATTLE GROUND RECOGNITIONS OF THE YEAR

The Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce recently named six individuals winners of its 2011 Recognitions of the Year.

Winners included Claire Lider (Citizen of the Year) for her work with local nonprofit organizations and her service as the Battle Ground city clerk; Mike Galeottie (Business Person of the Year), owner of Galeottie’s Restaurant; Rusty Grape Vineyard (Business of the Year); Michael Ciraulo (Service Person of the Year), Clark County Fire & Rescue; Irene Soohoo (Teacher of the Year), Pleasant Valley Middle School; and Merle Crockett (Coach of the Year), Southwest Washington Wrestling Club.

Battle Ground Mayor Lisa Walters presented finalists with a city pin and certificate of recognition, and each winner received a plaque in appreciation of their contribution to the community.
