Columbia Credit Union names two VPs of business lending

Columbia Credit Union has hired Michael Cochran and Deborah Oester to serve as vice presidents of business lending.

With 38 years of industry experience, Cochran will focus on cultivating business loan and deposit relationships, marketing credit union products and services and assisting with commercial lending operations.

“Mike brings 33 years experience serving the local business community,” said Columbia dept. vice president/manager business lending, Alan Ludlow. “We’re happy to have him join our team and offer members the benefits of his knowledge and expertise.”

Cochran most recently served as a commercial loan officer at a local financial institution, and has served in other capacities within business lending including chief lending officer, branch manager and team leader.

Oester, with more than 30 years of industry experience, will develop and maintain business loan and deposit relationships and assist in Columbia’s commercial lending operations, according to the credit union.

“With her extensive experience in real estate lending, Deborah is the perfect addition to our team,” said Ludlow. “Her expertise will help local business owners make informed decisions, giving them the best opportunity for success.”

Oester most recently served as SVP real estate division manager for a local financial institution.

Columbia Credit Union recently announced the hiring of Jeff Bannan as vice president of mortgage sales.

With 21years of mortgage lending experience, the credit union said Bannan will manage Columbia’s residential loan production, oversee mortgage operations and facilitate sales goals.

Bannan replaces Pam Baker, who is retiring from the position she’s held since 2006. Previously, he operated Vancouver Mortgage.

“Thanks to our commitment to serving members, Columbia already has a strong presence in the home loans market,” said Columbia SVP Chief Lending Officer Bill Fulk. “The addition of Jeff’s production capabilities will grow Columbia’s local market share ranking from number eight to nearly number five for 2011.”

Bannan holds degrees from University of Oregon in Political Science and Economics.

CHARMAINE LIGHTHEART & JUSTIN WHITE

First Independent Bank recently promoted Charmaine Lightheart to its community banking division. Additionally, First Independent promoted Justin White to assistant relationship manager in commercial banking.

In her new role, Lightheart will work with First Independent's small business customers. She joined the company in 2005 and worked most recently as the branch manager at the bank’s Orchards office.

As assistant relationship manager in commercial banking, White will serve First Independent's mid and large-sized business customers, according to the bank. White joined First Independent as Fisher's Landing branch manager in 2006 and moved to community banking as a relationship manager in 2008.

Clark County Historical Society & Museum Executive Director Susan MG Tissot has been elected by her nation-wide museum peers to serve a four-year term as a council member for the American Association of State and Local History.

Tissot has been the executive director at the Clark County Historical Society & Museum since fall of 2003 and has 25 years of experience working in small and medium size museums in Washington, Oregon, Hawaii and Wyoming. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the history department at WSU Vancouver.

The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff: Karen DeRenne as senior accountant and Hugh Vander Plas as program director.

DeRenne, who joins the trust with more than 20 years of accounting experience, will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities of the trust.

Vander Plas, who has spent most of his career on staff at corporate research laboratories, will handle proposals involving scientific research and work with Trust initiatives in science education.

“We are delighted to have Karen and Hugh joining our team,” said Steve Moore, executive director of the Trust. “Both are gifted and experienced leaders who will help advance our mission.”

The Vancouver-based Murdock Trust was created from the estate of Melvin J. (Jack) Murdock and its mission is to enrich the quality of life in the Pacific Northwest by providing grants and enrichment programs to organizations seeking to strengthen the region’s educational, spiritual, and cultural base in creative and sustainable ways.
