Clark College announces new associate vice president of Corporate & Continuing Education

Kevin Kussman has been named Clark College’s new associate vice president of Corporate & Continuing Education at Clark College.  

Kussman came to Clark from Hewlett-Packard (HP), where he served as manager/director of the Worldwide Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) Go-To-Market (GTM) Talent & Development organization. In that role, the college said Kussman led a global team that developed the talents of 6,800 employees who delivered $24 billion in revenue annually.

Kussman’s group earned honors from the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and the ROI Institute, which supports best practices and expertise in measurement and evaluation. At HP, Kussman also managed the European Consumer Sales Development Center and managed the mass merchant sales channel in the United States.

Before joining HP, Kussman was a product development and marketing leader for a number of companies across the Pacific Northwest, including Pope & Talbot Inc. and Tree Top Inc.

A resident of Vancouver, Kussman is an active volunteer for the Southwest Washington Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is also a member of Clark County’s Amateur Radio Emergency Services team.

“Living in Clark County, I have a deep appreciation for the role that Clark College plays in our region,” said Kussman. “I am very excited about joining Clark College Corporate & Continuing Education and being a part of the ‘Penguin Nation.’ There are so many opportunities for positive impact in the community through both personal enrichment programs and programs focused on generating business growth. I’m especially interested in building new initiatives around healthcare and business readiness.”

Columbia Bank has named Glenda Michael senior vice president and health care banking specialist of the Portland and Vancouver Metro areas.

The bank said Michael is responsible for managing the banking relationships of health care organizations. Those relationships include their business needs, as well as the private banking needs of the associated professionals.

“Glenda Michael has an extensive and devoted history in health care banking, which is an area Columbia Bank has targeted for growth,” said Andrew McKechnie, senior vice president and Oregon Specialty Markets manager. “As a professional banker with the background to understand an industry’s comprehensive financial management needs, she is sure to become an indispensable resource for the health care market and our business partners.”

Most recently Glenda was senior vice president and health care services team leader at First Independent Bank in Vancouver. Prior to her work at First Independent Bank, Glenda worked at Bank of the Northwest for five years.

Tidewater Holdings Inc., parent company of Tidewater Barge Lines, recently selected Sheryl Blunck as its new human resources manager.

The company said Blunck’s responsibilities will consist of planning and directing programs for all human resources areas including staffing, compensation and labor & employee relations.

Blunck most recently served as the human resources administrator for Warn Industries, an off- road equipment manufacturer and distributor in Oregon. She administered HR programs and policies for over 500 employees, managing worker’s compensation, recruiting, disciplinary situations and counseling management on personnel related matters.

“As we continue to expand and grow the company, it will be beneficial to have someone with Sheryl’s expertise to further enhance our HR Department,” said Tyler Kopet, Tidewater’s CFO. “Sheryl’s broad range of talents will help us continue our focus on fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring that Tidewater continues to be a rewarding place to work.”

The East Vancouver Business Association (EVBA) recently announced the appointment of two new board members: Mitch Canton and
Vicki Grisby.

Canton, director of Social Marketing for Live! Local Media, will serve as the EVBA’s director of communications. Live! Local Media currently operates many hyper-local websites, including ClarkCountyLive.com.

Grigsby (not pictured), a vice president and branch manager with West Coast Bank, will hold the position of Secretary.

Founded in 1991, the EVBA works to promote and support businesses and civic organizations in East Clark County and to participate in the community’s growth and development.
