YWCA Clark County names new board president

The YWCA Clark County Board of Directors recently elected Megan Vaughn to serve as board president. Vaughn succeeds former president Kelly Walsh, who will remain on the board as immediate past president.

The organization’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

“I could not be more proud of the YWCA Clark County – the mission, the staff, the people in need who are helped there,” said Vaughn. “I am honored by this opportunity to lead such a fantastic board for the next two years.”

Vaughn currently serves as asset manager for Second Step Housing, a local nonprofit working to eliminate homelessness in our community.

In addition to Vaughn’s appointment, the YWCA board elected the following new officers: Alan Ford, VP of board development; Kevin Weaver, VP of fund development; Greg Kimsey, treasurer; Kelly Nolen, secretary.

HomeInstead Senior Care in Vancouver has announced the appointment of Carly McDowell to the position of community relations manager at the company’s Vancouver office.

McDowell has more than 20 years of leadership experience in marketing communications and development specific to the healthcare industry. She has led both creative and tactical marketing efforts at organizations including the Children’s Hospital Guild Association and Foundation in Seattle.

“Carly will provide outreach to Clark County seniors and senior care businesses and will be active in the growing need for outstanding, personal, non-medical in-home care for seniors in Clark County,” said Julie Williams, president and owner of the Vancouver Home Instead Senior Care franchise.

Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) recently announced that real estate and land use attorney Sekou Caldwell has agreed to join the organization’s board of directors.

“Sekou will be instrumental in guiding the organization to accomplish our mission of providing life-changing sports opportunities to individuals who are blind in our community,” said Billy Henry, co-founder and executive director of the Vanouver-based organization.

Caldwell is a member of the Horenstein Law Group, also based in Vancouver.

Miller Nash partner Ryan Nisle has been named to the American Red Cross-Southwest Washington Region Board of Directors.

Nisle, a partner in Miller Nash’s business department, joined the regional law firm in 2001. His practice focuses primarily on tax and business law, with an emphasis on partnership and corporate tax, state and local taxation, international taxation, executive compensation and tax incentives related to energy and affordable housing.
