John Duback

Ridgefield wastewater treatment plant operator wins state award

John Duback was named the 2008 Washington State Operator of the Year this month by the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association.

Duback has worked as the city of Ridgefield’s wastewater treatment plant operator for six years and received the same award in 2007 from the Southwest Section of PNCWA.

He is a three-time certified wastewater treatment plant operator by the Washington State Department of Ecology, a Class I-certified water distribution system operator by the Washington State Department of Health and a Class I-certified wastewater collections system operator by the Washington Wastewater Collection Personnel Association.

 

Hal Dengerink, Jon Clemens

Two reappointed to technology center board

Hal Dengerink and Jon Clemens were reappointed to one-year terms on the board of directors for the Seattle-based Washington Technology Center. Dengerink is the chancellor of Washington State University Vancouver, co-chair of the Columbia River Crossing Task Force and serves on the Columbia River Economic Development Council board of directors. Clemens had a 30-year career in electronics and retired as president and chief executive officer of Camas-based Sharp Laboratories of America, where he continues as a consultant. He has served six years on the WTC board and was its chairman in 2006. He is on the board of advisers for Washington State University Vancouver.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Linda Barber

iQ executive named foundation chair

Linda Barber is the new chairwoman for the Washington Credit Union Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Washington Credit Union League. Barber is senior vice president of member services and human resources for Vancouver-based iQ Credit Union. She has worked in finance more than 30 years and has been active with the foundation for six years, supporting education, community outreach and small credit union development. Barber is on the boards of directors for Financial Women International and the Vancouver-Clark County Parks Foundation.

 

Richard Boyd

SWMC appoints coffee leader to board

Richard Boyd was appointed to the board of directors for Vancouver-based Southwest Washington Medical Center and its parent company, Southwest Washington Health System. He is co-chief executive officer and president of Portland-based Boyd Coffee Co. Boyd also has served on advisory boards for the Salvation Army, Cascade Employers Association and Associated Oregon Industries.

 

Jim Haden

nLight names chief operating officer

Jim Haden is the new chief operating officer of Vancouver-based nLight Corp., a global supplier of semiconductor laser and high-performance fibers. Haden worked most recently at California-based Coherent Inc. as director of operations and product line development. Previously, he was director of operations at California-based JDS Uniphase Corp. Haden holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.  

 

Don Jacobs

Vancouver attorney to lead association

Don Jacobs, principal partner of Vancouver-based Northwest Injury Law Center, is now president of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. Jacobs was elected to OTLA’s board of directors in 2000 and has held several leadership positions within the organization. He is licensed to practice law in Washington and Oregon and is a graduate of the Seattle University Law School.

 

Danny Aragon

Ethos hires celebrity stylist

Danny Aragon is the new lead stylist at Vancouver-based Ethos Salon. Aragon worked most recently in Orange County, Calif., as a stylist to celebrities. He has worked in his field for more than 30 years with clients such as Carol Burnett, Siegfried and Roy, Jay Leno, Brad Paisley and actors on the television series “Heroes.”

 

Nancy Thompson

Health underwriters choose president

Nancy Thompson was elected as president of the Washington Association of Health Underwriters, overseeing five chapters throughout the state. Thompson works as a life and health agent at Vancouver-based Biggs Insurance Services. She has been active with the organization since 1997 as president of the Portland-based Tri-County Association of Health Underwriters, and was an officer for the state chapter for three years.

 

Pat Price

Builder earns LEED designation

Pat Price, owner of Stevenson-based Allways Quality Construction, has become an accredited professional with the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. Price has worked in the building industry since 1991 and is a designated certified graduate remodeler with the National Association of Homebuilders.

 

Mike Adams

Barkdusters names erosion control specialist

Mike Adams has joined Vancouver-based Barkdusters as leader of erosion control. He has worked in landscape architecture for more than 10 years, most recently as erosion control lead for Vancouver-based Pacific Lifestyle Homes. Adams is a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead.
