Council for the Homeless names new executive director

The Board of Directors of the Council for the Homeless has hired Craig L. Lyons Jr. to be the new executive director of the Council for the Homeless, effective July 30.  Immediately prior to joining the Council, Lyons served as program director for Alaska’s Juneau Youth Services for six years, where he worked with youth and families in programs that provided housing and related services.

Lyons is a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York.  He began his work with the homeless as a case manager for JYS in 1994, moving to New Mexico in 1997 to work with foster families providing treatment foster care for traumatized youth. He has been an active member of the Juneau Child Advocacy Center, the Alaska Coalition on Housing and Homelessness and the Juneau Partnership for Families and Children.

Pacific Lifestyle Homes names CFO

Pacific Lifestyle Homes has hired a new Chief Financial Officer, Dan Webb.

Webb comes to Pacific Lifestyle Homes from Arizona where he worked in finance for Del Webb Corp., national builder of adult lifestyle communities. Webb has more than 20 years of experience. He holds business and accounting degrees and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Vancouver Rotary Club announces new officers and awards

Tony Johnson, president of T.J. and Assoc., has been elected 2007-2008 president of the Vancouver Rotary Club. Other officers are Vice President/President Elect Jerry Petrick, Secretary Victor DeAntonis, Treasurer Les Mischke,  Sergeant-at-Arms Kate Benson and Nadine Robertson, immediate past president. Club directors are Steve Rosvold, Jerry Rolling, George Middleton, Timothy Buckley and Rick Takach. Harley Morgan was honored with the Distinguished Rotarian Service Award. George Middleton was selected as Rotarian of the Year and Ron Prill was named Rookie Rotarian of the Year.

SWMC names physician director of Laboratory and Pathology

Southwest Washington Medical Center has named Dr. Bradden Jensen physician director of Laboratory and Pathology.

Jensen has served more than 15 years in the medical center’s Pathology Department. He takes over as physician director of both Lab and Pathology during a critical time when Southwest is implementing several new information technology systems and software programs.

WSUV staff earn HR professional certification

Angie Currie and Merlinda Sain, human resources staff at Washington State University Vancouver, have both been certified as Professionals in Human Resources by the Human Resource Certification Institute.

According to HRCI, the certification signifies that “they possess the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field.” HRCI is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management.

Air Speed Internet hires market development director

Local broadband communications provider Air Speed Internet has hired Laurie Casey-Bah as director of market development. Casey-Bah will expand Air Speed’s presence and marketing efforts with existing and prospective business customers. She has experience at Qwest Communications and in the mortgage industry. She is a long-term resident of Clark County.

Bay Mortgage hires loan officer

Bay Mortgage, a division of Cowlitz Bank, has hired Doug Moschetti as a mortgage loan officer. Moschetti comes to Bay Mortgage with more than twenty years of mortgage industry experience and is working out of Bay Mortgage’s Vancouver branch.

BOCC hires financial services officer

Bank of Clark County has hired Heather Smith as a financial services officer with its New Accounts Team located at 1400 Washington Street in Vancouver. With more than 11 years of experience in credit and banking, Smith was a personal banker at a local bank. Bi-lingual in Spanish, she also was a customer service representative at a credit card call center for a large financial institution.

Smith earned an associates degree in science from Portland Community College and a Bachelor of Science in business management and communication from Concordia University in Portland.

George P. Niziol, CFP and Financial Consultant at A.G. Edwards and Sons Inc. in Vancouver has been certified by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. Niziol has worked at A.G. Edwards since 2002 and is responsible for Comprehensive Investment Strategies.

Parks Foundation names member of the year

Dennis Breitenstein, owner of City Financial Group Inc., was honored with the Parks Foundation Board Member of the Year Award, citing his service and financial commitment to the Parks Foundation. Breitenstein has served on the Parks Foundation Board since 2002.
