ClarkCountyWaste Board elects Schmidt as chairman

Lisa Schmidt of Ridgefield has been elected chairman of the Clark County Waste Commission.

The commission said Schmidt’s expertise as a communications and marketing professional, as well as her past experience in lobbying for the creation of Indiana’s solid waste districts, will assist her work.

Schmidt was previously the liaison for local governments in the State of Indiana with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Department of Commerce.  She also has agency liaison experience with the Environmental Protection Agency Region 5.

With recycling in mind, Schmidt said the board is now making a plan of action in 2011 to pursue an interest in environmentally-friendly packaging.
