SWWDC awards contracts for employment services

The Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council chose Arbor Education and Training, Lower Columbia Community Action Council and the Washington State Employment Security Department to continue to provide Workforce Investment Act services for Clark and Cowlitz county WorkSource centers.

Arbor E&T partners with ESD to operate the Clark County WorkSource Center, 5411 E. Mill Plain Blvd. in Vancouver, and the action council and ESD operate the Cowlitz/Wahkiakum WorkSource Center, 305 S. Pacific Ave. in Kelso.

The WIA funds awarded by SWWDC account for about 30 percent of the resources in each WorkSource center. The remainder is provided through various ESD resources.

In Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties, WorkSource serves an average of 20,000 individual job seekers and 396 employers annually. In Clark County, WorkSource Vancouver served 40,785 individual job seekers and 581 employers in the last program year.
