Clark County taxable retail sales up 14.98 percent

Taxable retail sales in Clark County reached $1.49 billion in the second quarter of 2015 – an increase of 14.98 percent compared to the same quarter in 2014, according to a report from the Washington State Department of Revenue.

Retail trade, a subset of all sales that excludes non-retail sectors such as construction and services, rose 14 percent in Clark County to $673 million.

In Vancouver, taxable retail sales swelled by 16.81 percent, compared to the second quarter in 2014, to $865 million. Retail trade within the city rose 14.42 percent to $389 million.

Statewide, among major industries, sales of vehicles and auto parts jumped 11.14 percent to $3.85 billion; purchases in building materials and gardening stores rose 11.38 percent to $1.76 billion; general merchandise stores reported $2.62 billion in taxable sales, up 4.66 percent; and figures from accommodations, restaurants and bars statewide increased 10.64 percent to $4 billion.
