Providence expands into Southwest Washington with Vancouver clinic

Providence Health and Services will expand its presence into Southwest Washington with the opening of a Vancouver family practice clinic in late 2008.

The clinic will be housed in a building that is being remodeled at 315 S.E. Stonemill Drive, just off Mill Plain Boulevard, according to the Providence Health and Services website. Providence Health and Services has owned the building since 1991, and the clinic will occupy about 1,500 square feet, according to a spokesman.

The clinic has three posted positions for family practice physicians, one of whom will be the clinic's medical director. The clinic, which will be part of Providence Medical Group, will provide on-site lab and radiology services and could employ as many as 12 people.

Providence Medical Group is a physician-led organization of about 200 doctors under the Providence Health and Services network, according to the site. Providence Medical Group previously operated only in Western Oregon and its administrative office is in Beaverton.

Providence Health and Services is a not-for-profit network with a system office in Seattle. It operates in at least six cities in both Washington and Oregon and has sites in Montana, California and Alaska. Its network includes 26 hospitals as well as clinics and physician partners. Providence Health and Services operates a health plan, the Montana-based University of Great Falls and Burbank, Calif.-based Providence High School.
