The Port of Vancouver on Friday August 14th celebrated the unloading of the two millionth Subara vehicle to be delivered to the Port for distribution in the U.S. The following are quotes from the representatives of Subaru and the Port:
Lisa Quan, Vice President – Vehicle Planning & Logistics at Subaru of America:
We’ve been talking a lot leading up to this event about how quickly we arrived at 2 million vehicles. It took us a little bit of a journey to get to 1 million, and it took us about 12 years to get to the 2 million. In light of what we’re planning product portfolio wise at Subaru of America and with our parent company Subaru Corporation, we do anticipate that we will arrive at 3 million vehicles in a faster manner.
I think what’s most exciting is when you talk about the reach of this gateway — all the way to Ohio. That is pretty significant. And when you talk about the volume as well as the market share that we are able to support and make out in the marketplace, it is highly significant. So, for us, partnering up with [the Port] and expanding our partnership with the Port of Vancouver, is certainly everything to be excited about in order to get to that 3 million milestone.

Julianna Marler, CEO of the Port of Vancouver:
I’m grateful for the partnership we’ve had over more than 30 years and excited to see that partnership continue for many more decades…and also see the continued amazing vehicles that Subaru provides and the jobs it brings to our community.
