New Edge seals $1M deal with InMotion

Vancouver-based New Edge Networks has inked a $1 million, three-year contract to build and manage a private wide area network for InMotion Entertainment.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company has 55 stores in 30 major airports in the United States with entertainment products including digital downloads of music and movies for travelers.

New Edge is now installing the private network in all of the stores, which will handle data traffic for InMotion's self-service kiosk downloads and credit card transactions. The network also will handle a new point-of-sale and inventory management system, an in-store camera system, secure Internet access and corporate email.

The system will include multi-protocol label switching technology, which allows for prioritization of communications traffic to optimize use of bandwidth.

Locally, there is an InMotion kiosk at the Portland International Airport.

New Edge is a wholly owned business communications subsidiary of Atlanta-based EarthLink Inc.
