Kulmac takes over managing editor post

Nicholas Kulmac of Vancouver was appointed this week to the position of managing editor of the Vancouver Business Journal.

Kulmac comes to the VBJ from KPTV FOX 12, where for the last two years he was one of the news producers for the "Good Day Oregon" morning news show, which was the recipient of a 2009 Emmy Award for Best Morning Newscast.

During Kulmac's tenure at the station, "Good Day Oregon" was the top-rated newscast in the market for three years running.

"It's a pleasure to be a part of the Vancouver Business Journal family. After spending the past few years working on the opposite side of the Columbia, I'm very pleased to be working in the community that I already call home," said Kulmac in accepting the position. "In the months ahead, I look forward to forming new relationships and a lasting role in Vancouver's business community," he said.

Kulmac will direct the news efforts of the VBJ, focusing on businesses in Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania counties, as well operate as the primary contributor to "Just Business," the VBJ's email news product delivered on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. To receive this email, go to www.vbjusa.com and click on Just Business in the left-hand column.

A graduate of University of Oregon, Kulmac has a Bachelor of Arts in media-focused political science from the college of arts and sciences, with a minor in journalism and communication studies from the school of journalism and communication.

Kulmac said, "When I'm not writing for the Journal, you'll likely find me browsing the farmer's market at Esther Short Park with my wife, or walking our golden retriever at one of the community's many dog parks."

An avid user of social media and Web technologies, Kulmac has authored a number of blogs and sees the variety of delivery options available as a way of keeping business news fresh and in front of readers more often. Kulmac can be reached at nkulmac@vbjusa.com
