City hires business development manager

Alisa Pyszka was hired as the city of Vancouver's business development manager for the Economic Development Department.

She will focus on the development and implementation of the city's business recruitment, marketing, retention, expansion and target industry program by working directly with businesses to establish or retain their operations in the city.

Pyszka, who is LEED-accredited by the United States Green Building Council, has more than 12 years of experience in land development including more than 10 years of private-sector experience as a development consultant and two years in planning in the public sector. She worked most recently as a senior project manager for Portland-based development consulting firm WRG Design Inc., where she managed a variety of projects, including the redevelopment of the former Evergreen Airport in East Vancouver.

Pyszka took over the position after it was vacated by Gerald Baugh in early spring. Baugh is now employed at the Portland Development Commission.
